Number 17 Debuts and Moves Up at Summit Point
Number 17 is no longer a sneak peek. Last month’s teaser promised a debut on the 2 mile Main Circuit at Summit Point Motorsports Park, and the weekend delivered that and then some.
The New Look
It is the same blue 981 Cayman GTS that ran Pocono, Lightning, and Thunderbolt this year. What changed is the artwork. A bold white 17 now sits on the doors, and our partner logos run down the side skirt. Front and center is RX2 Solutions, our Primary Partner.
Friday: Heat, a Promotion, and a Blackout
Friday felt more like July than October. It was hot, but the car did not mind one bit. Number 17 was quick and happy from the first lap.
That afternoon brought the biggest news of the weekend: a promotion to the next run group. Run groups sort drivers by experience and pace, so moving up is earned, not handed out.
Friday also threw us a curveball. A power outage knocked out electricity to the entire facility and cut our session short.
Saturday: Rain, Sun, and a Setback
Saturday morning started a little wet, then cleared into a perfect fall day. We got off to a great start in the new run group and were pushing hard through the afternoon when the air oil separator failed. The AOS keeps oil vapor out of the engine’s intake. When it goes, oil can end up where it does not belong, and that is not something you drive through. Just like that, the weekend was over.
Closing Out 2026
That failure also ends our year. It is not the finish we wanted, but it is a good one. We rolled out a new look, earned a promotion, and ran well right up until one part let go.
Next up is getting on the 2027 calendar. When spring comes, we plan to pick up right where we left off.
